"...everything has an orange-ish tint to it today, almost like it's a really vibrant sunset all day long. The moment I stepped out of my house this afternoon I was choked by the thick layer of smoke and ash that has settled over the entire area of Southern California."
-Brittany Leigh

Our friends Brittany and Gavin posted this picture on
Brittany's blog. It was taken at night outside of Gavin's work. For me, seeing a picture like this from someone we know really brought this into reality for me. Sometimes everything that happens throughout the world seems to be so far away and we feel as if there's nothing we can do to help. Isn't it great that prayer is never limited by distance?

Hi Shane and Erin!
Your prayers are undoubtedly being felt over here in So. Cal. thank you so much! Smoke still continues to fill the skies and we are continually being showered by ashes from the fires up and down the coast. Schools have been canceled due to the air quality lately so we have just been staying indoors as much as possible. All of Brittany's family and all of my family are safe and sound, but we both know people who are being affected. Thanks so much for thinking of us and keeping us in your prayers! I hope you two are doing well! :)
awww thank you for posting this guys!! :)
Things are looking up as far as weather goes! So that's a blessing for the firemen! The fire that is closest to us is in Irvine (the Santiago Fire) and was started by arson!! can you believe that!? Isn't it terrible that someone would do something like that!?
Anyway, thank you for your thoughts and prayers! I pray you two are doing well. Can't wait to see you in Vegas! how long are you going to be there? do you know yet? talk to you soon!
Depends when Mike's party of the year is... :)
