World War II Searchlight

Erin and I went out for some TCBY (frozen yogurt) with our neighbors/good friends last night and on the way home we saw a large spot light circling the sky. Danielle and Erin wanted to go track it down and see where it was coming from. We ended up in the drive way of a couples' home where we found one of an estimated 100 remaining World War II, 800,000,000 candle watt searchlights. We were told that if you looked directly into the light you would instantly damage your eyesight. These were used to shine on enemy aircraft so ground gunners could see them during the war. Unfortunately, we did not have our camera on us at the time so we had to borrow a couple pictures so you would get the idea. So, in the long run although Nate and I thought our wives were crazy for wanting to track this thing down, we were glad that we did.
